HTU Holds Solidarity Gathering with the People of Karak, Reaffirms National Unity in the Face of Terrorism
Amman, October 25, 2026: Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), an initiative of the Crown Prince Foundation, held a solidarity gathering on Sunday in support of the people of Karak following the terrorist attack in the governorate. The gathering expressed the university community’s sympathy with the families of the victims and those injured, while reaffirming its commitment to national unity and its rejection of violence, extremism, and attempts to undermine Jordan’s security and stability. The gathering brought together HTU President Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, faculty members, administrative staff, and students in a collective expression of solidarity with the people of Karak and a shared commitment to standing united against terrorism, guided by the values that bind Jordanians together across all segments of society.Addressing the gathering, Prof. Al-Hinti extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished the injured a full and speedy recovery. He emphasized that the tragedy in Karak had touched Jordanians across the country, and that the grief of the bereaved families was shared by the nation as a whole. He reflected on the solidarity and compassion that have long brought Jordanians together in times of hardship.Prof. Al-Hinti noted that targeting innocent lives during an occasion meant for mourning and compassion reveals the cruelty of extremist ideology and its fundamental contradiction with the human and religious values deeply rooted in Jordanian society. He stressed that such acts would neither weaken the country's social fabric nor diminish the bonds of solidarity, citizenship, and shared destiny that unite Jordanians from all backgrounds. He further emphasized that universities have a responsibility that extends beyond expressing solidarity and condemnation. As educational institutions, they play a vital role in shaping young minds, fostering respect for human life, promoting tolerance and mutual understanding, and encouraging dialogue and critical thinking. These principles, he noted, are essential to confronting extremist ideologies and protecting society from hatred and division.Prof. Al-Hinti reaffirmed that HTU draws inspiration from the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in safeguarding national unity and strengthening social cohesion. He emphasized that Jordan’s strength lies in the awareness, solidarity, and shared sense of responsibility of its people, and in their unwavering commitment to protecting the security and well-being of their country and fellow citizens. The gathering reaffirmed HTU’s firm rejection of terrorism in all its forms and its solidarity with the people of Karak and the families affected by the attack. It also reflected the university’s belief that preserving a united society begins with instilling the values of citizenship, mutual respect, and responsibility in future generations. The gathering concluded with prayers for those who lost their lives, a speedy recovery for the injured, and the continued safety, unity, and stability of Jordan.
